a video sharing website where users can upload, view and share video clips.
if you would ask me how often do i actually visit youtube ? i can say may be once in two weeks. youtube is a place where i can look at people's video for free. Anyone could post any video he or she wants online. There is a wide range of informations on the youtube.people could also post what he orshe thinks about the video . It is also a useful tool to do research. Besides for doing research. it could be used as a entertainment.
Talking cock.com is a wesite for singaporeeans who wants to express his or her opinions and also thoughts.The topic there is really intresting, as it jokes about the current affiars. The informations there are notreally useful, but it is mainly for fun and laughters.The layout of the website is rather eye catching, due tothe colour of it. The name of is is also interesting. The name of the wesite is also the same as the informationsprovided in it, mainly joking about the current affiars. I think it is rather unfair to the authority after i had evaluate the website. It is mainly about how the people feel, but yet the person who is being critisie is not being able to defend for him or herself.The information provided could be really baised, and hence not reliable.

The island is also an important conservation site for Sea turtles. Previously, the indiscriminate economic exploitation of turtle eggs had caused fewer turtles returning to nest on the island. This has led the Terengganu state government to set up the Koperasi Setiajaya Pulau Redang in 1989, a cooperative aiming to develop and manage socio-economic programmes that could improve the livelihood of Pulau Redang locals without endangering its natural resources.

What benefits do i get when using different search facilities to search for resources related to my topic?
i have choosen metacrawler and yahoo to do my research for this next assignment, using the different search facilities to search for resources related to my topic the effects of eating disorders on teenagers.

Include Site Feeds into personal Blogs
I had added 4 Person's blog into my blog links.mostly people from my class or group mates. They are Ying Shan, Zuraizan, Wei zhen and also Adam.
i think that puting links on your blog gives you alot of advantages, it not only helps you to be able to visit your friend's blog any time you want even thou you had forgotten the link or you do not have the habit to remember links. Adding links onto blogs also help people to advertise the other person's blog. So i think that having links on the blogs is very useful.
In addition, i had actually added a tag boad to my blog, in this way people can come to this blog and give me comments or to give me their links so that i can post his or her links onto the blog so that other people could view it.

This is the post that i had replied to. it was about this girl who thinks that she is fat and wanting to compete with her sister to be skinnier. I think reading forums and reply to it is really helpful for the Research process, as it helps us to understand real situiations and how people really feel. It is like doing a survey, but it is more on personal feelings and the author do not have to face people and feel embarrassed nor ashamed.
I feel that i may have help her one way or another thou i am not sure if she will listen to what i have said.i am just glad that i had replied and helped.

I had post a question as i was curious what is the main reason why people have eating disorders besides because he or she keeps thinking that he/she is fat? is it something that causes the brain to think that way?
i think that doing citation is very import as a citation is a reference to a source (not always the original source), published or unpublished. A bibliographic citation is a reference to a book, articale ,web page , or other published item. It is like repecting the person who had created it first. no body would lik their hard work and efforts to be taken by other people, so do you right?
A bibliography is a list, either indicative or comprehensive, of writings sharing a common factor: this may be a topic, a language, a period, or some other theme. One particular instance of this is the list of sources used or considered in preparing a work, sometimes called a reference list. (wiki)

My Reflections
Google had been a common search engine which we use to do research, and some other web page such as yahoo and msn.com . i preferred to use google all along. when the teacher was saying about google scholar, i was rather shocked when i saw the word google scholar.It was something that i don't know at all. what i know was only google, yahoo search. Therefore i did a little research on what is google scholar and google.
Google :an American public corporation, earning revenue from advertising related to its Internet search,e-mail, online mapping, office productivity, social networking, and video sharing services as well as selling advertising-free versions of the same technologies. Google Scholar : a freely-accessible Web searching engine that indexes the full text of scholarly literature across an array of publishing formats and disciplines. The google scholar index includes most peer-viewed online journals of the world's largest scientific publishers. Its advertising slogan - " stand on the shoulder of giants" - is a nod to the scholars who have contribution to their fields over the centuries, providing the foundation for the new intellectual achievements.
In my opinion, i think that people could just do wonders by just using the Internet. It had been alot more convenient. Now people could just search for something thru the Internet and they need not waste their time to go all the way down to the shop to check out on the information of the product or about the company. In this assignment i manage to take note of what are the difference between google and google scholar and which are the information i can look up on when doing my research.it will be alot more convenient for me in the future.

To really look at how google search works, i think that it is very impressive. The things that you search on could just appear in seconds and there are alot of informations.it provides high quality of information for you to choose from.You could choose the country of information that you want to search on and also the that the information could all be translated to a different language. In google search, there are alot more things that i can do such as searching for images , news books, and many more, unlike google scholar.
An interesting assignment today. if i had $500 what would you buy? i had never really actually purchase anything online before, as i think that it's kind of dangerous as i had heard from my friend that, they had actually purchase something online and had paid for it, but the product did not arrive. I believe that purchasing things online, not only we have to be careful, we also had to be alert and make sure that the website is a reliable one. What i had really always wanted was a Totto-chan, the Little Girl at the Window and Canon EOS Kiss X2 , if i had $ 500 i would have definitely purchase that. The book is really worth reading, and the reason why i would want to purchase the Canon EOS Kiss X2 is because i had always love taking photos, and i hope to bring my photography skills up to another level. don't you think beautiful pictures brings you to another dimension where it helps you to sooth your soul and mind.Beautiful pictures really touches people's hearts and bringing them into it and allow people to feel how the photographer feels at that time will taking the picture.

Part 3 : How this purpose different or similar to the purpose of any of the other resources i had found.
The other resources i had found is amazon - http://www.amazon.com/ and also those of personal blog who sell product and send it to you. These are other website where people could buy things online. After comments from friends and also forums, i had noticed that the products from amazon are mostly shipped from other countries, some of my friends who had purchased from there paid but did not receive their product, so there are pros and cons, therefore you have to be very careful while purchasing online. Firstly, you have to make sure the person you had purchased from is a user who is trust able. As for E-bay, some of the products are from Singapore and that it takes shorter time to get your hand on the product.
My Reflections.
After this assignment, i had actually learn alot, as in how to buy things online and what are the things i have to take note and look out for. I had also ask around, asking friends which are the safer website to order and buy thing from. There are also quite a few things i have to take note while purchasing things, as some of these online shopping only accept visa, MasterCard or some which only accept cash when they give you what you have ordered.
The first activity was to select a research topic from the list provided on the portfolio brief, and base on the research topic that i had selected,i had to search the Internet for one each of the following Internet resources, using any search facility. What was expected was to read up on the topic i had chosen, i had to look into.

i was wondering what was the actual term for WWW as the lecture was saying. We are just so used to type WWW in front of the web page we want to view, but some of us actually do not know the actual term for WWW. It actually stands for "The World Wide Web" , and do you actually know what does HTTP stands for? Hypertext Transfer Protocol (HTTP) is a communications protocol. Its use for retrieving inter-linked text documents (hypertext) led to the establishment of the World Wide Web .Than the next new things that i have know is RSS is a family of Web feed formats used to publish frequently updated works—such as blog entries, news headlines, audio, and video—in a standardized format.The term "RSS" (Really Simple Syndication) is still sometimes used to refer to web feeds in general, including web feeds with a format different from RSS, and lastly i had learn that FTP ( File Transfer Protocol) is a network protocol used to transfer data from one computer to another through a network such as the Internet. FTP is a file transfer protocol for exchanging and manipulating files over a TCP computer network. An FTP client may connect to an FTP server to manipulate files on that server.
OK ! back to the assignment. i chose the effects of eating disorders on teenagers, as i think that health is a very important thing in our life, and that there is an increase of teenagers having this problem not knowingly. i had a friend who had recovered from eating disorder, and i think that it takes both courage, perseverance and also lots of love and care from her family. i was able to find a few website related to the topic that i had chosen, but the work was more tedious than what i thought. i had to read thru quite a few pages before coming to a conclusion. I had to consider if the source was reliable or not, or was it useful. i spent alot more time that i had expected to. It seems to be a simple task but, the truth are deceiving. I had also noticed that the way i type the words into the search engine makes a big difference to the final results.
Today was the first day of class and it was kind of fun. I reached school at about 8 am this morning, and waited for my friend to arrive before we set off for class. The teacher started off with the introduction of herself than told us to say something about our friend. we were ask to pick a pieces of paper each which contained a number. I got the number 9, which happens to be the matching number with a PID senior Jeremy. I hardly know him as i don't really like talking to strangers. He started the conversation first, asking what was my name, hobbies and also what course i was in. He than introduced himself. He also asked if being in this course stressful to me, and i said a little, as i feel that if i were to say no, it may be a nice answer but yet not truthful. I feel that there are really alot of talented people in this course, and the work load given to us was alot. Jeremy is a outgoing person and he seems to laugh alot.
after that we were told to do our work setting up this blog so that we could do our reflections, and on how we feel and post our assignments online. I personally find that the lesson seems to be fun, but there seems to be alot of work to be done. after hearing the lecture's explanation on the works that have to be done, i personally can't wait to do the assignment on " my dream holiday ". haha ^^ . I hope that i can be able to follow the pace of the lecture and the other students.after all the class was kind of turn out to be fun, and I'm looking forward for class ^^.
